Health Benefits of Optimized Testosterone

Most people think of testosterone replacement in terms of treating decreased energy or low libido. And yes, there are many subjective, symptomatic benefits to this therapy. Optimizing testosterone levels in both women & men can help with a multitude of symptoms, such as:

  • night sweat/hot flashes

  • depression/anxiety

  • decreased sexual desire/erectile dysfunction

  • memory issues

  • brain fog/lack of concentration

  • fatigue/lack of energy

  • weight gain/difficulty losing weight

  • irritability/mood swings

  • difficulty getting quality sleep

These symptoms can also be affected by thyroid hormones, estrogen, progesterone, DHEA and other elements. So looking at all of these is important.

But treating symptoms is only one part of the equation.

Optimization of hormones also is preventive medicine. When testosterone is at therapeutic levels, the long-term health benefits can be quite remarkable. Studies have shown that bioidentical testosterone therapy in men and women can have the following positive effects:

  • heart protection

  • lower blood pressure

  • decreased cholesterol/LDL

  • stronger bones and muscles

  • improved mood

  • diminished anxiety/depression

  • improved cognition and memory

It seems that low testosterone levels are associated with an increased risk of Alzheimer's, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis-related fractures, sarcopenia, and diabetes. Also, there may be associated risk of breast and prostate cancer.

All of these things are reasons to investigate your testosterone level and look at bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.
